This holiday has been exciting for me, because I can honestly say I am a MUCH different mother than last year. Being temporarily unable to physically fulfill the tasks of motherhood has a way of doing that to you. Poopy diapers really aren't the worst things in the world (although Janson will tell you I act differently when he's around). And the kids watched so much TV during my hiatus that I'm now trying to make up for it.
Grace sang (er, stood up and moved her mouth a couple times) in sacrament meeting for the very first time, and I grinned from ear to ear. As she stood up there with the Primary, I realized that she was the youngest one up there. She has a December birthday and is the youngest Sunbeam, therefore the youngest kid in the entire Primary. Wow. I think she holds her own quite well.
Janson gave me exactly what I wanted: he did more of the chores so I could be lazy and hang with the girls, made me amazing beef and broccoli stir fry, and gave me a stereo for my kitchen. We've already had a few dance parties in there!
We ended the day with a trip to Independence Grove (and mandatory cheesecake), which has become my favorite park within the last couple weeks.

Any park that is safe enough that I can ignore my kids is good in my book! Hhmm, I'm really racking up some "good mother" points today.
On a side note, the holiday talk has left Grace saying "mother" instead of "mommy." It's pretty hilarious.
"No, mother is going to make my bread and jam!"
There is something about the title of mother that makes me feel so undeserving. Yes, I can handle Peanut-Butter-Jelly-Making Mommy, or Snot-and-Spit-Up-on-my-Shoulder Mommy, but Creating-Respectable-Citizens Mother? No, I think it's time to fix the toddler's verbage, and fast.
