With Grace's school years sneaking up, I've started thinking more about education. This quote reminds me of the best $3 I've spent this month, which bought me this:
Haha, isn't it beautiful? If you can't tell, it's a kitchen timer. Since I knew she would eventually hate it, I let Grace first claim this as her own with stickers and artwork. Now it tells her when the computer or TV needs to come off. It hasn't completely erased her tantrums, but she doesn't scream quite as much when I pry her away from a screen. We're getting a little better, the two of us, one small step at a time.

My guess is --- Bill Cosby? But now I'm looking at your other person who answered and I see it was Obama. And now I do remember him saying that, I think...in his inauguration speech?
Woohoo, ten points to DHL. :) Cheater. ;) Haha, that's exactly what I would have done. He said it in an address to Congress, pretty comparable to the State of the Union addresses. Julianne- wow, Bill Cosby is a good guess, since he's such a big advocate of father involvement.
Well, this shows how old-fashioned I am, but I was thinking it was Barbara Bush. Because she gave a great commencement speech about 16 years ago where she said something like, "What's most important is not what happens in the White House, but what happens in YOUR house." I think Pres. Hinckley (or someone) quoted it in a Conference talk. Anyway, your quote is awesome as well. I love the timer-- what a great idea! Among my regrets: that I didn't play board games more with my kids-- now I can't get anyone (except the occasional grandchild) to play a board game with me!
